Resquip supports BARTA attending EVECC Congress

We would like to thank Adam Mugford, Executive Director EVECC Congress and longtime supporter and our veterinary small animal lead. Whose help has enabled us to have a free stand and display space at the European Veterinary and Emergency Critical Care Congress in Edinburgh this year. Neil and Teri from BARTA were on the stand for the four days, which proved incredibly useful and gave a great insight into a side of veterinary care we are less familiar with. Developing new ways for dealing with Down Cows

BARTA is part of a group working on a 2 year research project on dairy farms, this is being funded by Innovate UK. We are working with a number of Farms in Dorset, along with Resquip and Synergy Vets. The aim of the project is to look at better relocation techniques for down cows. On every dairy farm, the occasional down cow may be unable to rise due to illness or injury. These cows may be stuck in awkward places on the farm such as cubicles, tight corners and milking parlours where a telehandler is not immediately accessible. It is imperative to move these cows quickly and safely to a suitable hospital pen for further assessment and treatment, to avoid secondary complications which hamper recovery. A day at the Bristol Zoo Project

Neil Rae, BARTA Project Manager was given an amazing opportunity to watch a range of procedures being carried out under general anesthetic on one of the Giraffes at the Bristol Zoo Project thanks to Will Walker, Curator of Mammals.  Along with Tony Ward from Resquip, a great supporter of BARTA, we had the opportunity to look at how our manual manipulation techniques and the animal rescue kit used by the Fire and Rescue Service animal rescue teams might be applied in this environment. We had brought along a strop guide, glide sheet, 7 metre strops and head carry sheets ready for use if needed. BARTA at the Emergency Services Show

BARTA and Resquip joined up once again to promote support for emergency responders at this years exhibition. Show organisers generously made provision for the team to showcase large animal rescue techniques with an extra space to demonstrate our life-size training mannequin horse and cow. This year’s BARTA team represented a variety of disciplines required to enable effective response to animal incidents including operational firefighters, large animal vet and small animal critical care specialist. We are so grateful for our wider team giving up their time to promote the good work that BARTA does for the community we represent. ESS 2022 Thank You!

We’ve just returned from a tremendous two days with our BARTA family exhibiting at Emergency Services Show at the NEC, Birmingham. Supported by Tony Ward at Requip and joined by all those in our BARTA family to promote what we all do, we would just like to say a huge thank to our team and all those visitors to the show for taking the time to speak to us on our stand. Canine Encounters BARTA/Resquip Mannequin

Following on from the successful development of both the horse and cow mannequins that are already in use with response teams around the world, the operational and behavioural experts from BARTA and the designers from Resquip have collaborated on and developed a canine encounters mannequin. Designed for realistic and practical emergency response based training, the Labrador sized, fully articulated mannequin is a great addition to the range. Whether sitting, standing or using the aggressive or passive head that is supplied, it allows responders to learn and train for rescue, restraint and canine first aid both safely and effectively. The mannequin is used on our Canine Encounters Intermediate module.
