Speaker Spotlight – Nate Hartinger

Nate is the Deputy Chief of UC Davis Fire Department, an all-risk fire department providing service to the 8.5 square mile UC Davis campus in California. Through regional agreements and the Statewide Master Mutual Aid plan, UCD Fire also deploys throughout California during many disasters, large incidents, and wildfires providing firefighting and command support.

Nate has been in the fire service for over 25 years, first starting at the department in 1999. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from UC Davis, he has worked in every position in the department, including serving as the Battalion Chief covering the UCD campus and City of Davis fire stations. He is a certified CSFM Chief Fire Officer, Incident Safety Officer, CICCS Strike Team Leader, and has deployed to numerous large wildfire incidents around California and Nevada.

Nate has helped train the UC Davis student Veterinary Emergency Response Team since 2004 and has also successfully worked to legalize oxygen administration to pets by first responders in California. He lives with his wife and two children in the City of Davis.
