The day will consist of the theory behind working at large animal rescues, the structure and management of a scene and some of the common terminology used by emergency services.

Case studies will demonstrate effectiveness of modern approaches and there will be opportunity to practice techniques used in rescue situations and to see how these might be applied in everyday veterinary situations.

Key areas of learning include:

  • The role of BARTA in supporting emergency responders
  • The role of emergency responders in relation to animals in crisis
  • Situations leading to the requirement for veterinarians to attend or support an incident involving animals
