During an incident involving animals, emergency services will expect to supplement their skills with other specialists, such as veterinary professionals.  It is crucial that all responders can work seamlessly, through a structured approach with designated roles. JESIP provides the principles through which we can all work together and have a clear understanding of the incident needs and how we will work together to resolve it. This informative film demonstrates how these principles work.  Not just for the emergency services, all professionals attending should be aware of and follow these concepts. Resquip supports BARTA attending EVECC Congress

We would like to thank Adam Mugford, Executive Director EVECC Congress and longtime supporter and our veterinary small animal lead. Whose help has enabled us to have a free stand and display space at the European Veterinary and Emergency Critical Care Congress in Edinburgh this year. Neil and Teri from BARTA were on the stand for the four days, which proved incredibly useful and gave a great insight into a side of veterinary care we are less familiar with. Small animal vets are not our traditional target audience, however with developments around Pre-veterinary Immediate Emergency Care in UK Fire Services, this was a great opportunity to talk about how that is developing and our wider work with large animals. Developing new ways for dealing with Down Cows

BARTA is part of a group working on a 2 year research project on dairy farms, this is being funded by Innovate UK. We are working with a number of Farms in Dorset, along with Resquip and Synergy Vets. The aim of the project is to look at better relocation techniques for down cows. On every dairy farm, the occasional down cow may be unable to rise due to illness or injury. These cows may be stuck in awkward places on the farm such as cubicles, tight corners and milking parlours where a telehandler is not immediately accessible. It is imperative to move these cows quickly and safely to a suitable hospital pen for further assessment and treatment, to avoid secondary complications which hamper recovery.
